It’s funny, I’ve been lamenting the end of Summer.

But then I got to thinking about everything coming up this Fall.

And, you know what?  Fall, I don’t know that I love you, but maybe we can be REALLY good friends.  Mmmmm kay?  In short, I think I actually do like you quite a lot.

So much so that I think you deserve a song:

I obviously didn’t write it myself of anything, but it’s the thought that counts, right Fall?  And this song just, like, makes me think of you.  In a GOOD way.  If I made you a mixed tape, this would TOTALLY be on it.  In the spirit of full disclosure, I need to tell you that I still like Summer best and everything.  But, aside from Summer?  I think I like YOU next best!  And you should feel pretty good about that.  Silver and everything.

In my quest to try new bloggy things, I came across this hop via a fellow Canadian blogger I’m enjoying called Beautiful Dysfunction.

It’s called Sunday Social.

Apparently each week, they ask you some questions and you answer.

Theme this week is all things Fall.  And one of their questions particularly appealed to me, so I thought I’d give it a go.

Without further ado, let’s play:

1. What is your favorite fall activity?

Easy: Pumpkin Carving.

One year's effort. Too bad not EVERYONE was looking at the camera...

One year’s effort. Too bad not EVERYONE was looking at the camera…

We’ve had an annual tradition, since having kids (so we’re year four now, baby!), to carve them with two of our good friends.  Last year, we both had kids old enough to go to the pumpkin patch and choose our pumpkins, which added to the enjoyment.  My eldest asked to go to the pumpkin patch again for MONTHS following Halloween and has started asking again now that Summer is ending.

On a related note here – Halloween is a pretty big deal all year in our house courtesy of Robert Munsch’s Boo! being one of my eldest daughter’s all-time favourite bedtime reads.  Due to some of the illustrations in this book, she’d like to be a witch this year.

2. Do you follow a football team? If so, which one and why?

Now, this is the question that caught my eye.  After a 15 year hiatus, Carleton University – my alma mater here in beautiful Ottawa – welcomes back its football team.

Go Ravens!

Go Ravens!

Yesterday was their first home game and I was excited to be in the brand new stands cheering them on.  Go Ravens! (I’m in these stands, really.  Try and find me!)

3. What is something fun about fall in your area?

There are any number of fun activities.  When the kids are a bit older, I am definitely looking forward to taking them to Saunders Farm around Halloween.

I’m also looking forward to doing the Army Run 5K again this fall as well as the Running Scared Halloween 10K.  Regarding the Army Run, I was there for the inaugural run in 2008 when I did my first half marathon.  The next year I was VERY pregnant, so I volunteered at a water station.  Then I missed for two years, but was back last year as my first run (about two months) post delivery.  I participated in the 2nd annual Running Scared last year as my second “get back into shape” post baby run.  It was great.  Beautiful scenery – and a whole area of Ottawa I wasn’t familiar with (thank you GPS!)  Really, it was sort of like running through the set of the first few seasons of Weeds.

And, getting back to the second question, there’s the Carleton Homecoming (called Throwback!) – full weekend of activities + the next home game.

4. What are your favorite fall staple outfits?

My summer wardrobe as long as I can maintain the denial that it’s getting colder – sniff, sniff.  As for other clothes, thanks for reminding me I need to find time to go shopping…

5. What things are you looking forward to most about this coming fall season?

My eldest started school this September, so I’m mostly looking forward to seeing how she likes it; who her friends are; and watching her as she goes through that experience and transition.
6. What is your favorite fall holiday? Tradition?

See #1.  Or if that’s too far back, I’ll give you a hint…
