…inside my bones.

It goes electric wavy when I turn it on…

Because it’s the glitter bomb that just won’t quit chez nous, T is for Trolls!

The 2016 DreamWorks Animation film is based on the Troll dolls I remember (and still own and have since gifted to my children) from childhood (well done DreamWorks!). It features the voices of 10% defiant Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake as your two main trolls (that would be the Pink One and the Grey One) and is about those two trolls on a quest to save their village from destruction by the Bergens, creatures who eat trolls.

Last fall, my daughters both begged to go to this movie for weeks. And so we went. When the key song started the back row of the movie theatre broke into song. I felt like I was at the family edition of Rocky Horror.

It was spontaneously fun! And rather awesome.

What song you ask?

This one:

Can’t Stop the Feeling – Justin Timberlake (2016)

My kids LOVED the movie.

So since then they have acquired some … stuff.

Despite being a bit iffy on JT (I mean, really – just look at his mug!), I also enjoyed many other songs in the movie.

Because how can I not be all for my kids internalizing this “never gonna give up” themed one for Poppy:

Get Back Up Again – Anna Kendrick (2016)

Then of course, there is this musical learning opportunity:

If you are a parent, you might be familiar with these.

As a parent, some cover of a song you love hits the radio and you are giddy at passing on some musical history.

The conversation in this case, went like this:

Me: Hey, this is a song that was originally sung by Cyndi Lauper!

Kids: ….

Me: You know! The same singer who sang Girls Just Want to Have Fun!

Kids: Oh! From Barbie Princess and the Pop Star?

Me: Face Palm.

Getting back to Trolls, a sequel is scheduled to be released on April 10, 2020.

I think that calls for a Cyndi Lauper encore, don’t you?

Last thing I ADORE about this video and my kids?

That my eldest chronically belts out how she’s “burning like a swan” rather than a spark.

And with that, I think it’s time to bring today’s glitter bomb to a close.
